How to care for your
Chopping Slab & Knife Block

Our chopping boards and knife block are made from natural timber and require regular care to maintain their performance and appearance.

Cleaning

Hand wash only using warm water and a soft cloth or brush. A mild dish soap may be used if needed, however soaps will strip natural oils from the wood and may require more frequent oiling. Never soak or submerge the board. Dry immediately with a clean towel, then stand upright to allow full air drying on all sides.

Oiling & Conditioning

Regular oiling is essential to prevent drying, cracking, or timber movement. Oil the board once a month or whenever the surface appears dry or faded.
Use a food safe mineral oil or a purpose made board conditioner. Do not use cooking oils, as these can go rancid over time.
Ensure the board is clean and completely dry before oiling. Apply oil generously to all surfaces, allow it to soak in for several hours or overnight, then wipe off any excess.

Storage & Use

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat sources, or moisture. Avoid storing flat on wet surfaces or stacking tightly, and allow airflow around the board. Do not place in the dishwasher or expose to prolonged heat or moisture.

Proper care will help your board age beautifully and last for years.
